Amarnath Yatra Latest Update - Yatri Niwas to Be Used As Base Camp in Jammu
Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas to be used as the base camp for amaranth Yatra pilgrimage which is set to take place from 21st July 2020 to 3rd August 2020.
Amaranth Yatra that takes place for 3 - 4 weeks on the hills of Kashmir is an extremely holy journey which is understandable as to why extreme and effective safety measures are being taken by the authorities for the convenience of the pilgrims during these uncertain times. The Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar here would be utilized in the form of a base camp for this annual pilgrimage to the cave shrine.
An official source announced, “The Yatri Niwas is being prepared as the base camp for amaranth Yatra with all the necessary security arrangements”.
Administration of Jammu and Kashmir has decided to allow a fixed number of 500 pilgrims per day by road likely through the Baltal track. The other track from the Pahalgam route will remain shut. To clarify, initially, the Yatra was prepared to commence by opening both the tracks i.e. Pahalgam in Anantnag and Baltal in Ganderbal on 23rd June 2020. However, that was before the world was devastated with the COVID19 pandemic.
The sprawling complex of the Yatri Niwas had served in the past the annual pilgrimage in Jammu and in March it had also served as the administrative quarantine center and later on also had been upgraded to a 500 bed COVID care center. Using this amazing space as the Yatri Niwas ensures that you have all the facilities available for your convenience. Officials have also clarified that during the Yatra this complex will be used as a Yatri Niwas but later on after the pilgrimage ends it will be converted back into the COVID care center to lessen the burden on other hospitals.
